Lindsay Kane is a Bushwick-based mixed media sculptor whose work deconstructs the artificial boundary between fine art and artisanal craftsmanship. Her practice spans plaster, papier-mâché, fabric, embroidery, and multi-dimensional art on paper - exploring how interactions with objects imbue them with personal and collective meaning. Examining women’s roles in familial and societal structures is central to her work, as is the enduring relevance of craftwork in a world dominated by industrial automation and mass production.
Lindsay’s artistic foundation is rooted in a multidisciplinary education. She studied color theory at the Fashion Institute of Technology and earned a degree in Radio and Television Arts from Toronto’s Ryerson University. This diverse background informs her richly textured, conceptually layered pieces, which challenge viewers to reimagine the connections between tradition, innovation, and the objects that shape our lives.
